Career Development Community Savings’ employees are strongly encouraged to take ownership of their careers. To that end, we provide extensive internal training and subsidize external training relevant to an individual’s career path. It is up to the individual to set their career goals.
Each year employee training hours exceed industry benchmarks. Community Savings’ investment in developing our people ensures that they have the skills required to succeed in their current position and are ready to step up to the next level with confidence when opportunities arise.
There are many career paths to pursue at Community Savings. Career paths include Financial Services in lending and investments, Marketing, Human Resources, Accounting, and Information Technology.
Initiatives are under way to further expand the range of training available to employees. Computer-based training will be expanding its profile, with the recent introduction of a company Intranet taking on an important role in facilitating career development.
Compensation Community Savings conducts annual market surveys to ensure the compensation levels for our wide range of positions is competitive in the industry and the marketplace. Our Rewards & Motivation salary administration program provides competitive, equitable compensation at all position levels.
SCIP (our Sales Culture Incentive Program) allows staff to earn “incentive” pay based on attaining branch, regional, and corporate goals. An annual staff appreciation dinner provides an opportunity to give staff well-deserved recognition for helping make Community Savings a success, and to distribute the incentive pay earned.
Our comprehensive benefits program is available to part-time and full-time staff, providing a package that is above industry norms. A Group RRSP option is also available, including matching contributions from Community Savings to provide an extra measure of security for our employees.
Community Savings provides employees with additional benefits such as staff rates on mortgages and consumer loans, a computer purchase program, and free banking services.
What are typical entry-level positions? Depending on your education and experience, you can start in various positions. A typical entry level position in Retail Banking is as a Member Service Representative (MSR). Recruiting for a position such as this is conducted on an ongoing basis. The typical progression starts in a casual, part-time position and leads into a regular part-time or full-time placement. In administration departments, you may be accepted directly into your area of expertise such as Accounting, Marketing, Human Resources, Information Technology, Investments, or Credit Management.
What training is offered? We provide an extensive orientation and training program to ensure employees have the skills, knowledge and confidence in starting their new position.
What are the employee selection policies? In the employment of personnel, it is recognized as a fundamental principal that persons are equal in dignity and human rights, without regard to creed, race, religion, color, sex, ancestry, age, place of origin, marital status, physical or mental disability (in the absence of bona fide occupational requirements), or sexual orientation.
Are there any special conditions of employment? It is a condition of employment that all employees be bonded while employed with Community Savings. Employees will be required to provide information regarding the ability to meet bond requirements. A background check will be conducted for all new employees.
