NEWS RELEASE for October 2, 2007
Community Savings recognizes that it takes both hard work and financial support for students to attend post-secondary education. Therefore, a new scholarship program was implemented this year to assist students within the Community Savings service area to achieve their career goals. The program was developed to honour students that are dedicated to furthering their education in Business or Finance at a post-secondary institution in Alberta.
The new Community Savings scholarship program has three different award levels. The Corporate Scholarship, a $2,500 award, is given to the applicant with the highest academic performance from all nominations. The $1,500 Regional Scholarships are designated for the top student in each of the six regions. A $1,000 Community Scholarship is available for one student from every high school within the Community Savings service area. This year a total of $13,500 in scholarships was awarded, which is a strong start for the first year of this program.
