NEWS RELEASE for August 16, 2007

The first annual Sunshine Benefit, co-sponsored by Community Savings and Desert Blume Golf Club, raised $50,000 for the Medicine Hat and District Health Foundation. On Friday, August 10th over 140 golfers hit the links at the Desert Blume Golf Club in Medicine Hat to support this worthy cause. The majority of the donation will be used to revitalize the Labour and Delivery Family Lounge in the Medicine Hat hospital. The remainder of the funds will be distributed to various sections of the hospital to assist with child health and patient care.

"In 2006, Community Savings proudly announced a multi-year agreement with the Medicine Hat and District Health Foundation," explained Murray Haubrich, President and CEO of Community Savings. "This year we had the privilege of partnering with Desert Blume Golf Club for the first annual Sunshine Benefit. We were keen to partner with this dedicated group of people who were willing to provide their facilities and expertise to create an event in support of the Health Foundation." To date, the Medicine Hat and District Health Foundation has received $75,000 from the Community Savings and Sunshine Benefit golf tournaments.

"Community Savings was Desert Blume Golf Club's partner of choice for the Sunshine Benefit tournament because we both had similar goals in mind", stated Scott Staley, VP Operations of Desert Blume Golf Club. "We both wanted to support the Medicine Hat community, have a first class event, and donate the funds to a recognized local charity. We were very fortunate to be able to team up with Community Savings to benefit the Medicine Hat and District Health Foundation for this tournament."

Dana Cooper, Executive Director of the Health Foundation, was thrilled with the outcome. "The results of the Sunshine Benefit had a lot to do with Community Savings, and their role as a leader within the community of Medicine Hat." Cooper added, "Doubling the tournament proceeds from one year to the next is amazing. The success of this event was primarily a result of the new partnership with Desert Blume Golf Club, and the overwhelming support from sponsors, golfers and local businesses. We cannot thank Community Savings and Desert Blume enough for their incredible support, and we look forward to working with them on next year's event."
