| NEWS ARTICLE Servus Credit Union opens new branch in Grande Prairie
(EDMONTON, Alberta) - Servus Credit Union opened its third Grande Prairie branch, the Northgate, on June 2 in the Northgate subdivision at 10130 117 Ave. A grand opening celebration will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2009 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Festivities include tours of the branch and chances to win cash in the money tunnel or at the lucky ATM machine, which will be randomly stocked with $50 bills. The new branch will turn traditional banking on its head with a unique member service concept called "pod banking". Wendy Rowe, northwest regional manager, explains, "These unique, circular style pod stations will bring a whole new way of banking to Grande Prairie, where members stand alongside their Servus financial expert for a real-time view of their transactions." The branch also has a 24 hr. drive-through ATM, a Wii station for the kids and fresh coffee in the waiting areas. Northgate currently has nine on staff, with room to grow to a full complement of 16 employees. Shannon Sayers, branch manager, brings nine years of banking experience to her role. "I am thrilled that we can serve our members even better, with another branch being open longer hours," said Shannon. Branch hours of operations will be Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 6pm and Saturdays from 10am to 3pm. The new branch features Servus signage and the downtown and Patterson branches, formerly Common Wealth, will receive bright new Servus signs. The name change is a result of the merger last November of Common Wealth, Community Savings and Servus Credit Union to create Canada’s first province-wide credit union. Servus credit unions in Grande Prairie serve more than 8,000 members and have $272 million in assets. The decision to build a third location in the community was based on the credit union’s expanding commercial and agricultural membership amidst a rapidly growing city.
